Message from the Headteacher, Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School

I am delighted to introduce myself as the Headteacher of Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School.

After completing my degree in Music from Essex University, I took a year to travel before starting  my PGCE at Middlesex University. Whilst working as a teacher in my first school, I then completed an MA in Education form UCL’s Institute of Education.

I have been a member of staff here at EGA since 1995 when I joined as Head of Music. During that time I have seen the transformational journey that the school has been on and I am proud to say that I played a key part of that story, working through roles in middle and senior leadership to my role now as Head.  Previously to this I worked in a mixed school in Enfield.

I have a passion for girls’ education and for finding solutions to ensure all children whatever their starting point can go on to achieve without limits.

As  a mother to two sons, I take huge pleasure in seeing their journey through the educational system. I have been a governor in their primary school and I am fascinated by how schools employ different approaches to the same ultimate goal of education.

I am excited by the partnerships forged through the Islington Futures Federation. Working together across settings and phases can only serve to enrich the experiences for students, staff and parents, and to improve the outcomes for all.
