Dan Shotter

(Secondary) Parent Governor, member of Beacon High School Committee

I believe strongly in the importance of local schools, embedded in the community, and committed to delivering the very best outcomes for all young people. Beacon High’s ‘Believe, Belong, Become’ motto captures it perfectly. Let’s encourage all students to believe they can achieve great things, let’s ensure they belong to a school community that supports them at all times and let’s celebrate when they become role models for future generations.

I’ve worked in central government for over twenty years, including a lengthy period at the Youth Justice Board. This is the body that oversees the youth justice system in England and Wales and I was responsible for delivering a wide range of projects designed to improve the facilities and services on offer to disadvantaged young people. This was incredibly rewarding and I’m now really pleased to have joined the Beacon High Committee. I hope I’ll be able to use my skills and experience to help support the school as it continues on its already impressive journey.
